Abstract (EN)

INVESTIGATIONS ON THE EFFECTIVENESS AND BIOLOGY OF SCOLOTHRİPS LONGICORNIS PRIESNER (THYSANOPTERA:THRIPIIME). Yazan DOGAN (M. S. Thesis) SUMMARY In this study, the effectiveness and the biology of Scolothrips longicornis Priesner (Thysanoptera:Thripidae) were investigated. Incubation times of S. long i corn i s eggs were 15.8, 6.16 and 5.33 days and the total developmental periods of female and. mile immature were 20, 16; S, 7 and 5, 5 days at 15 h daylength and 15±1 °C, 25±1 °C and 30±1 °C, respectively. Longevities of adult female and male of S. longicorais were 62, 53; 41, 33 and 17, 14 days at 15±1 °C, 25+1 °C and 30±1 °C, respectively. S. long i corn i s females laid a mean total of 33 nd 17 eggs at 15 h daylength and 25±1°C- and 30±1 °C, respectivel Survival times of S. longicorais larvae in the absence of prey were as follows l.instar 2, 2, 1: 2. instar 2, 3, 1 and in female and of male adult 2, 2; 3, 2 and 1, 1 days at 15 h daylength and 15±1 °C and 25±1 "C30±1 °C, respectively. The minimum number of T_;_ cinnabar -i nus eggs required for development of S. long i corn i s larvae were 8, 8 eggs for 1. instar larvae and 15, 15 eggs for 2. instar larvae at 15 h daylength and 15+1 °C and 30+1 °C, respectively. The functional response of female and male larvae' of S. longicornis was studied with 5, 10, 15, 20, 30 and 40 eggs of T._ cinnabar inus per unit area at 15 h daylength and 15+1 "C, 25±1 "C and 30+1 °C and was of Ho lling type of functional response. Incubation time of EL long i corn i s eggs were 5, 6, 81 and 9 days and the total developmental periods of immatures were 7, 8, 8 and 8 days at 25+1 "C and daylenghts of 9, 11, 13 and 15 h, respectively. Longevities of adult ŞL long i corn i s were 43, 40, 22 and 21 days and the average number of eggs laid per female were 36, 29, 24 and 16 at 25+1 °C and daylenghts of 9, 11, 13 and 15 h, respectively.
