The effect of repeated sprint training and sprint interval training on selected parameters at sedentary adolescents

Abstract (EN)

The aim of this study; to determined the effect of repetitive sprint and interval sprint training on some physical and physiological parameters in sedentary adolescents. 52 volunteer students with an average age of 16.76 ± 0.05 years, a mean height of 160.89 ± 1.26 cm, and a mean body weight of 57.30 ± 3.34 kg, studying in a boarding dormitory at Ibn-i Sina Vocational and Technical Anatolian High School were participated. Volunteer participants were randomly divided into 3 groups and pre-tests (Body Fat Percentages, Agility Test, Vertical Jump Test and Anaerobic Power Test were applied. Training practices were applied to the groups for 4 weeks. Sprint Interval Training was applied to the SIT group 3 days a week, and Repeated Sprint Training was applied to the RST group 3 days a week. The CG group did not participate in any training application for 4 weeks. The tests applied after 4 weeks of training were repeated. As a result; In the SIT group; Statistically significant results were obtained in body fat percentage, vertical jump, anaerobic power parameters. In the RST group; statistically significant differences were found in agility and body fat percentage parameters. In this study, it was seen that the different parameters of both training significantly improved in adolescent girls. In this context, in adolescent girls who have a residential education life with limited physical activity opportunities; TSA and SIA applications; it is seen that it is economical in terms of needs such as material, field and also in terms of time. In addition, our study has emerged that it can be applied and followed by everyone, and lastly, it meets the activity needs of boarding students.
