Abstract (EN)
The aim of this study is to investigate the effects of different training methods on motor characteristics in sedentary young men and to determine which training yields higher gains. The sample group of this study represents the population of young, inactive (sedentary) men. Therefore, our sample consists of two exercise groups and 16 sedentary male subjects, without using any selection method, aged between 18-23. The groups were homogenously divided according to the composite strength averages of back and leg strength. Tabata and Thera-Band training were conducted 3 days a week for 8 weeks. The normality of data was tested by the Shapiowilk normality test. The Paired Sample T test was used to compare the pre-test and post-test results within the groups, and the Independent Student T-test was used to compare the pre-test and post-test values between groups. Quantitative measurement methods were used in the study. Body mass index, back strength, leg strength, handgrip strength, vertical jump, aerobic and anaerobic endurance, 20-meter speed test, agility t-test, and flexibility test were measured in sedentary young men before and after training intervention. The mean and standard deviation values of the data obtained from measurements were calculated. In the study, it was determined that both Thera-Band and Tabata exercise practices significantly improved back strength, leg strength, right and left claw strength, 20-meter speed, agility, vertical jump, anaerobic power, and flexibility (p<.05). In conclusion, when the results of our study are evaluated overall, it was found that Thera-Band and Tabata exercises applied to sedentary individuals have similar effects on motor characteristics and can be used in place of each other. Keywords: Sedentary, Tabata, Thera-Band, Training.
