Şefkat and his Tezkire-i Şu'ara

Besides tezkire, its writer Şefkat Efendi and brahim Nâşid Bey, who choosepoems of tezkire, have also been introduced. By comparing three copies of tezkire,which arein the library catalogue, the criticized text has been produced. Text has been translatedaccording to transcription system.First tezkire in turkish literature, a kind of anthology, is Kaf-zâde Fâizû?s tezkire calledZübdetü?l-eş`âr.Then Yümnû , Âsım ,and smail Belûğ wrote in this tezkire one after otherSilâhdâr-zâde Mehmed Emûn and Şefkat Efendi wrote in smail Beliğ?s tezkire, a kind ofAnthologhy, and the last chain of this tezkire is Tezkire-i Şefkat-i Bağdâdû.In Tezkire-i Şefkat 125 poets, who appeared from sultan Mahmut?time to the tezkire?swritten time which was 84 years? period of time,were studied.The poets in tezkire have beenwritten in alphabetic order.Transcription of text make known chosen examples poems ofpoets of that time, so that literature taste, poems style and uderstanding of that time have beenmade possıble to see. Moreover, ınformaion about Şefkat?s life and works has been given andalso it has been tried to introduce him to our literature world.
