Investigation of psychomotor development levels of eight and nine age girls and male children according to TGMD-II test

The purpose of this study; It is the investigation of the motor development levels of eight and nine year old girls and boys in the sample of Yozgat Akdağmadeni District. Among the second and third grade students of 75. Century Primary School in Yozgat Akdağmadeni, 60 students (30 girls-30 boys) from seven age group and 60 students (30 girls-30 boys) from eight age group totaly 120 students have participated to the investigation as test subjects. The children who are in the experimental group have been tested with locomotor and object control tests according to the TGMD-II. During the measurements; the object control abilities, (Hitting the motionless ball with a stick, Standing dribbling, Catching, Hitting ball by foot, Throwing from upper level of the waist, Throwing from lower level of the waist) and fundamental loco motor abilities (running, hopping, jumping, standing broad jumping, sliding, gallop) are performed by the hole participants by repeating twice and the successful or unsuccessful abilities they have are determined. With the final score evaluated by giving "1" point for the abilities they were successful with respect to their criteria's and by giving "0" point for the abilities they were unsuccessful, their total points were calculated about each skill. In analyzing th data, Kolmogorov-Simirnov and Spahiro-Wilk normality tests were used to determine whether the data of the groups had a normal distribution. Then, in order to determine whether there is a difference between the groups, (two-way ANOVA) test was performed at α = 0.05 significance level. Tukey's HSD test was used as the second level test for the significant differences. In the test results, in terms of TGMD-II locomotor subtest scores, object control subtest scores and TGMD-II total scores; It was found that the scores of girls and boys in the 9 age group were significantly higher than the scores of girls and boys in the 8 age group (p <0.05). By applying TGMD-II test, which is widely used in scientific studies, while contributing to the formation of norms for Turkish children, on the other hand, basic motor features can be observed depending on gender and age.
