Abstract (EN)

In this study, a Salafi scholar Abdullah Ansari al-Harawi's life, works, creed, and his book Zem al-Kalam wa Ahlih is reviewed along with characteristics of Salafism. Initially, information about Harawi's life, views, works, and where he grow up and raised. Following that, the general structure of Salafism, the principles of the creed in Salafism, the history of Salafism till Harawi, the diversity within Salafism, Salafism's intercourse with other sects, the relationship between Salafism and Kalam, and Salafism's view on Kalam were discussed. Later, Harawi's work Zem al-Kalam wa Ahlih is studied in detail and his views on the criticism of Kalam in this work are tried to analyze. This work of Harawi –which is among the early works of Salafism, is very important to understand Salafism. It was written as a defense of Salafism, and different or opposite ideas and opinions were constantly criticized, especially Kalam and Kalam scholars were satirized. With this work, Harawi influenced major scholars of the Salafi tradition, including Ibn Taymiyyah.
