Abstract (EN)

In this study, it is aimed to make a comparison between public unions and labor unions in terms of union democracy and to determine the similarities and / or differences between them. In this context, the questions in the semi-structured interview form consisting of 7 questions were directed to 18 public union members and 12 labor union members randomly selected among 15 public and labor union members with branches in Tekirdağ. Content analysis method was applied to the interview analysis key and the data obtained were interpreted. It can be said that members of the labor union are unionized earlier than members of the public union, but trade union activities participate are more than the members of the labor union members of the public union, both of which are members of the trade union, who are often able to communicate with the union leaders and their representatives, and perceive democracy as freedom. At the same time, it can be said that Labor union members than the members of the public union are more concerned about the democratization of the workplace union representatives. However, it can also be interpreted that the same persons have taken part in the organs of trade unions for a long time and that members are not given the chance to take part in union bodies, and that trade union executives are able to conduct undemocratic behaviors in the selection of workplace union representatives.
