The analysis of youth camps which are carried out as leisure time activities in point of programe and leader

In this survey it is aimed to analyse, interpret and to give proposals when necessary to the ideas of women and men participants of youth camps organised as leisure time activity aged 13-15 and 16-17 about sea camp program and leader behaviours.Questionairre technique is used as a data collecting medium. A personal data form and a questionairre form is prepared in order to establish the demographic features and profiles of participants of Free of Charge Sea Camp set by Ministry of Youth and Sports. The questionnairre involves yes-no questions, multiple choice and open-ended questions about the camp program and the camp leader. Once the survey was completed, all the personal data forms and questionairres has been checked to gain information, data has been coded to be comforable to code instruction. The coded data has been interpreted by using explanatory statistics, tables and by looking at the percentiles and frequency distributions.The youth camps ,which are leisure time activities, effects the participants in a positive way. The participants emphasized that when the camp finished they had good friendships, they gained self-confidence, they learned to have a planned and coordinate lifestyles, they had responsibilites and they had positive transfers about group work. It is noteworthy that women and men participants, according to their age groups, had clean-up problem. Thus, the negative features of camp programs need to be healed. The women and men participants generally had positive ideas about camp leaders and they put an emphasis on the importance of the camp leader during the activities. At the end of the survey It is concluded that while planning the activities women and men participation shoul be done equally and considering the age factor the activities which will meet the needs of all age groups should be involved in the program, and moreover the number of the sea activities should be increased.Proposals have been given ,according to the data collected, to the researchers and institutions about the current conditions of youth camps , the contect of the camp programs in Turkey. It is also adviced to expand the number of the youth camps.
