The investigation of leisure time satisfaction, life satisfaction and happiness of university students who spend their leisure times in youth centres

The aim of this study is to investigate the levels of leisure time satisfaction, life satisfaction and happiness of university students who spend their leisure time in Youth Centres. In this study, 250 university students aged between 18-29, who participated in leisure time activities in Youth Centres of Muğla Provincial Directorate of Youth and Sports, involved in different faculties of Muğla Sıtkı Koçman University. In order to collect the data of the research, the Personal Information Form prepared by the researcher, the short version of the Leisure Time Satisfaction Scale developed by Beard and Ragheb (1980), the short version of the Oxford Happiness Questionnaire developed by Hills and Argyle (2002) and Life Satisfaction Scale developed by Diener, Emmons, Laresen and Griffin (1985) was used. Independent Samples t-test, Paired-Sample t-test, Kruskal-Wallis Test, ANOVA Test and Pearson Correlation Analysis were used to analyze the data. In light of the research results, a significant difference was found in terms of leisure time satisfaction average score and variety of gender. Life satisfaction and happiness did not differ significantly on average points, according to gender. Leisure time satisfaction, life satisfaction, and happiness did not show any significant difference between the groups in terms of age and education level. The average points of leisure time satisfaction and life satisfaction did not differ significantly between the groups in terms of income. Happiness is significantly different in terms of average points and the state of madness. The increase in the level of happiness related to income status is a remarkable finding. There was a significant difference in terms of leisure time satisfaction scores and frequency of coming to Youth Centres. A significant difference was found in the average scores of leisure time satisfaction of students whose frequency of coming to Youth Centres differs every day, once a week and once a month. There was a significant moderate correlation on average between leisure time satisfaction, life satisfaction and happiness of the participants in the research.
