Abstract (EN)

This study analyzes Sergei Prokofiev's Piano Concerto No.2 Op.16 while providing short information regarding his life and his other piano concerti. The thesis was written on the grounds of exploring and exemplifying Prokofiev's unique style and his faithfulness to classical forms. In spite of his double-sided musical language, his use of form is very loyal to the classical style and thus very easily comprehensible. The concerto, which was written in Prokofiev's student years with an energic, virtuosic and enthusiastic approach, summarizes the style of his early works. The solo part regarding its difficulty appears as a notable example of its era. The materials used in this work were kept to a minimum as with every successful composition while being utilized with utmost thrift.
