Abstract (EN)

OBJECTIVE: This study was conducted to evaluate whether the CRP (C Reactive Protein) / Albumin ratio is an effective indicator for the severity and prognosis of the disease, in patients with peripheral artery disease in lower extremity. PATIENTS AND METHODS: This study was conducted by randomly selecting 50 patients who were diagnosed and treated for lower extremity obstructive peripheral artery disease between January 2016 and October 2020 in Hatay Mustafa Kemal University Practice and Research Hospital Cardiovascular Surgery Clinic and retrospectively evaluating the results. By scanning the files of the patients, age, gender, chronic disease conditions, smoking, previous peripheral operations history, treatments performed by us, ankle-brachial pressure indexes and CRP and Albumin values of the dates they applied were obtained. Physical examination, complaints of the patient, clinical staging of Rutherford and Fontaine before treatment were evaluated for arterial lesions. This study was approved by the Hatay Mustafa Kemal University Tayfur Ata Sökmen Ata Medical Faculty Clinical Research Ethics Committee. RESULTS: Of the total 50 patients participating in the study, 26,0% (13 patients) were female and 74,0% (37 patients) were male. The most common complaints were standing wounds with a rate of 26,0% and claudication with the same rate, followed by pain at rest with a rate of 22,0. While the medical treatment decision was made in 12.0% of the patients, a revascularization decision was made in 88.0%. Amputation was performed in 20.0% of the patients after treatment. There was a statistically significant and negative correlation between clinical classification and ankle brachial index values (p = 0.000). According to the correlation analysis results, there was a statistically significant and negative correlation between the CRP / albumin ratio and the arm and leg index (r = -0.324; p = 0.022). CONCLUSION: Based on the ankle-brachial index and clinical classifications; as the CRP / Albumin ratio increases, the severity of peripheral artery disease also increases. KEY WORDS: Peripheral vascular disease, Albumin, CRP, ABI
