Abstract (EN)

Many researches and theoretical studies exist in the literature to calculate the bearing capacity of shallow foundations. Theories developed by scientists such as Terzaghi, Meyerhof, Hansen and Vesic form the basis of studies on the subject. In addition to these existing studies, studies have been continued in the literature for the soils in the sloped region. It is known that the first study in the literature for soils located in the sloped region belongs to Meyerhof. Based on the study of Meyerhof (1957), within the scope of the thesis, analyzes were made on the bearing capacity of strip foundations built on sloped cohesive soil. In the analysis, the effects of parameters such as foundation width (B), distance of the foundation to the slope crest point (b), undrained shear strenght (cu), slope angle (ꞵ), slope stability coefficient (Ns) on the bearing capacity coefficient (Ncq) were examined. 588 models were created and analyzed with the Plaxis 2D program with the finite element method. The obtained results from analyses were processed into the SPSS program and the bearing capacity coefficient relationship was developed with nonlinear regression analysis. The results of the analysis performed with Plaxis 2D were compared with the theoretical studies of Meyerhof (1957), Hansen (1970), Vesic (1973) and the developed empirical correlation. In the results obtained, it was observed that the bearing capacity coefficient (Ncq) could be determined with a high degree of accuracy with the developed correlation.
