The work titled "el-İstişfâ fî Tercemeti'ş-Şifâ" by Şeyhülislam Ebûishakzâde İshak Efendi (Review-text)

This study consists of the text and analysis of el-İstişfâ fî Tercemeti'ş-Şifâ, which is, as far as we can determine, the first translation of Kadı İyâz's eş-Şifâ bi-Ta'rîfi Hukūki'l-Mustafâ, which has been the subject of many studies since the day it was written, by Şeyhülislâm Ebûishakzâde İshak Efendi. In the introduction, the place of the work in literary genres in Turkish literature are tried to be determined and in this direction, the definitions of the genres "siyer-megāzî, şemâil, hilye, hasâis and delâilü'n-nübüvve" are given since it contains the characteristics of these genres. In the first chapter, information about the life and works of Kadı İyâz, the content of Şifâ and its Turkish translations are given. In the second part, the life and works of the translator İshak Efendi are introduced and the form and content features of el-İstişfâ are stated. In the third chapter, el-İstişfâ fî Tercemeti'ş-Şifâ's transcripted text is given, based on the copy at İstanbul Arkeoloji Müzeleri Kütüphanesi (no. 93) since the copy is written, annotated and entirely reviewed by the translator Şeyhülislam İshak Efendi himself, compared with other copies when necessary.
