Descriptive analysis of the image of corporal Seyit within the framework of cultural heritage management of Havran Municipality

This thesis examines the image of the activities carried out by Havran Municipality under the name of Koca Seyit and Seyit Onbaşı within the scope of cultural heritage management within the framework of the field of public relations. The study aims to explore the historical significance of Seyit Onbaşı, renowned as Koca Seyit, from a cultural heritage perspective within the village of Kocaseyit, located in the Havran district of Balıkesir Province. Additionally, it seeks to evaluate the image management strategies associated with the events organized in memory of Seyit Onbaşı. The scope of the research encompasses the cultural heritage management activities related to Seyit Onbaşı conducted by the Havran Municipality. The sample for this study includes officials from the Havran Municipality and residents of Kocaseyit village. The data collection method employed is semi-structured interviews, and the research method utilized is descriptive analysis. The study's universe was determined through purposive sampling, which involved selecting five participants: two local residents from Kocaseyit village, the village head, the Deputy Mayor of Havran, and the administrator of the Koca Seyit Museum. The findings obtained from the interviews will be presented using descriptive analysis techniques. The Havran district in Balıkesir Province, as the hometown of Seyit Onbaşı, serves as the custodian of the hero's life and legacy. The village of Kocaseyit offers a significant platform for an in-depth examination of Seyit Onbaşı's cultural heritage. In this context, the events organized by the Havran Municipality in memory of Seyit Onbaşı hold substantial importance. The lack of sufficient academic research in this domain enhances the significance of this study. The activities organized by the Havran Municipality provide a perspective focused on Seyit Onbaşı's life, heroism, and narrative, with the primary objective of preserving Seyit Onbaşı's memory and transmitting his cultural heritage to future generations.
