The examination of traditional urban texture in Seyitgazi; the street rehabilitation proposal for Carsiici, Eskisehir and Hamamyolu streets

From past to present, historical cities, urban areas and their environments that contain concrete and abstract elements, vital and cultural values show that today the differances arising from the cultural values of every society are the richneses and it is necessaty to be survived by protecting them. Seyitgazi district, has been an important center since ancient times. In the district where basic civil, religious and social functions develop together, Cumhuriyet Square, which is directly related to monuments, archaeological sites to be protected and its original urban texture, socially, economically and culturally, makes it the most important node or center/square that is effective in the perception and understanding of urban landscape and identity constitutes the reason for being chosen as the study area. The fact that traditional civil architectural structures have survived by preserving their existence in the square and its surroundings in the II. Degree Archeological Site area, but since no studies have been carried out for conservation caused losses in the traditional urban texture. For this reason, it has become a working area of Cumhuriyet Square with its formation, which affects the understanding, perception and living of the urban heritage in a static and dynamic way. In the study prepared with this context, the historical richness of Seyitgazi district and the traditional architectural texture were defined. The planning and conservation approaches carried out to date have been examined and the legal process of the region in terms of conservation has been examined in order to document whether these studies are compatible with the historical development, multi-layered structure of the city and the historical environment. Afterwards, analytical analyzes were developed to evaluate the current situation of the settlements in Seyitgazi's historical environment, and the urban spaces, monumental and traditional civil architecture structures were examined and documented together with their surroundings. Physical problems and comfort conditions of the study area were identified, documentation and detection studies were conducted for the whole area. In line with the data obtained in all the researches, the traditional civil architectural structures of Çarşıiçi, Hamamyolu and Eskişehir streets were examined and the harmony of the new buildings with the historical environment was aimed and a "Street Rehabilitation Project" was prepared.
