Abstract (EN)
This study titled as ?Roofing Systems of Seyitömer Mound? is formed by determination of the findings relating to roofing system of the structure uncovered in Seyitömer Mound. At the same time, by taking evidences into consideration, some recommendations are presented. According to them roofing system of Seyitömer may have been applied in the structures of Early and Middle Bronze Age, Akhaemenid and Hellenistic period. Moreover, in the first part of our study there is a general evaluaton regarding the emergence and development of roof tiles in ancient period and also the usage and construction techniques of the roof tiles are evaluated in the second part of the study.The clay mass obtained from the layers of the Early Bronze Age and the burnt condition of the roof system revealed from one of the Middle Bronze Age?s structures in Seyitömer Mound are important datas regarding mound building?s roofing systems in that period.It seems that Corinthian-type flat roof tiles (stroter) and the Corinthian-Lakonia type roof tiles (kalypter) were used in the mound?s Akhaemenid and the Hellenistic period roofing system . Among the samples of roof tiles obtained in the mound there is a pattern of tiles called as ? semi-antefixed stroter?. This is not like any part of the roof tiles known so far and constitutes an interesting group of finds. Stroters are located at the front edge line of the roof and the parts in question have been applied to the corner of stroters. It is concluded that the structures of the mound have a high degree of slope by taking the position of the parts mentioned above as well as the climatic conditions in the region at where the mound located into consideration.Key Words: Roof, roof tile, Seyitömer Mound.
