The characteristics and development of Seyitömer the civilion architecture

In this study, the characteristics and development of Seyitömer architecture, which is from the Middle Bronze Age until the Roman Period, are examined. At the mound, fossils belonging to the Early Bronze Age as well as to the Middle Bronze Age, Achaemenid, Hellenistic and Roman Age, were discovered.To evaluate the architectural characteristics and development of Seyitömer Mound, a sample structure representing the period and/or spheres the best was chosen and investigated with regard to material, construction techniques, plan characteristics and aim of its use. Also, through a comparison with contemporary centres, it was attempted to put forward the architectural influences and the peculiar characteristics of the settlement.The settlements are surrounded with a wall or terrace-rampant walls. There have been witnessed any monumental structures. Rather, places which might be workshop/workplace and store as well as residential structures are seen. Especially in the Early and Middle Bronze Age, places like workshop/workplace are densely seen.That a structure with a megaron plan was seen in Early Bronze Age makes it clear that the settlement went under the influence of Western Anatolia culture; that Central Anatolia influence was rather intense during the Middle Bronze Age. Architectural remnants of Achaemenid and Hellenistic Period consist of residential structures. That there were not seen structures characterizing the period and that the structures reflect rather the local architectural characteristics indicate that the settlement was rural in this period.It is observed that the settlement reached the densest and widest borders during the Early and Middle Bronze Age; that the settlement became smaller and therefore that a lesser population lived. It is clear that Seyitömer Mound had an important role in production of ceramics and mine, also in trade between the East and West of Anatolia during the Early and the Middle Bronze Age.Keywords: Seyitömer Mound, Architecture, Dwelling, Factory.
