Abstract (EN)

This master's thesis provides a detailed examination of the socio-economic impacts of the Seyyid Nureddin Alparslan Foundation. Established in 1257 by Seyyid Nureddin Alparslan Er-Rufâi, the foundation played a significant role during the Seljuk and Ottoman periods. The foundation served the community in various fields such as education, social and cultural activities, economic activities, urban development, and religious services. It contributed to the field of education by establishing madrasahs and libraries, supported cultural development through social events, promoted trade and craftsmanship, invested in urban infrastructure projects, and built religious structures to meet the spiritual needs of the community. The concept of the foundation has historically played a crucial role in the social and economic life of the Islamic world. Foundations were established on values of social solidarity, cooperation, and benevolence, providing extensive services to the community. The Seyyid Nureddin Alparslan Foundation continued this tradition as a significant institution. Its purpose was to meet the religious, social, and economic needs of society. From its inception, the foundation prioritized education and teaching activities, aiming to raise the knowledge level of the community by establishing madrasahs and libraries. Additionally, it organized social and cultural activities to contribute to the cultural development of the community. In terms of economic activities, the foundation significantly contributed to the economic structure of the region. It supported the development of trade and craftsmanship, enhancing the economic dynamism of the area. The foundation financed its economic activities through various income sources, including agricultural lands, trade centers, and craft workshops. Examination of the foundation's collection and accounting records provided insights into its economic activities and the economic dynamics of the region. These records detailed the foundation's income and expenses, investments, and economic operations. In the field of urban development and public works, the foundation made significant investments in the construction and infrastructure projects of cities. It contributed to the development of cities by constructing various buildings such as mosques, madrasahs, baths, and caravanserais. These structures not only met religious and social needs but also strengthened the economic and social fabric of the cities. The foundation's investments significantly contributed to urban development. Regarding religious activities, the foundation built mosques, masjids, and other religious structures to meet the spiritual needs of the community. In addition to providing religious services, the foundation also placed great importance on religious education and teaching activities. The religious activities of the foundation aimed to support the religious and spiritual life of the community. The socio-economic impacts of the foundation were manifested in its contributions to the region's economic structure and the enhancement of the community's welfare. The foundation's economic activities supported the region's economic development and promoted trade and craftsmanship. Its social activities led to significant changes in the social structure of the community, improving the welfare level through social services. Detailed analysis of appointments, construction activities, and other important events was conducted to evaluate the foundation's social impacts. These analyses revealed the role and historical significance of the foundation in social and economic life. In conclusion, the Seyyid Nureddin Alparslan Foundation played a crucial role in social and economic life, strengthening the values of social solidarity and cooperation. This thesis highlights the socio-economic impacts of the foundation through historical documents and archival records, emphasizing the historical and social importance of the foundation institution. The thesis also addresses the impacts of foundations on society, the sustainability of the foundation system, and the future of the foundation institution, reiterating the role and importance of foundations in social and economic life.
