Abstract (EN)
Miniature art has an important place in book arts. Miniature sare the art of depiction, which fixes time and space in its moment, and in which that moment is described with the same freshness even after centuries. The examples of miniature art in different albums, as an palace art of the Ottoman period provided the transfer of event soccuring such as ascend of the sultans of the period, his far ornear voyages, important meeting sand even his funeral by picturing to the future. The Ottoman sultans have always been art lover sand art lovers. After the conquest of Istanbul, Ottomans have enter edtoan important period in terms of art, culture and science. This period was the process of formation of bookarts. The Works which the sultans brought from the places to the palace that they conquered during their conquests shedlight to the artists of the palace and provided the master miniaturists to improve new styles. Many important Works emerged with the influences of the artists who were brought from the conquered land son the artists working in miniature workshop sand with the bright articulations since the early years of Kanuni Sultan Süleyman, and bookart screated a unique style. During this period, besides many documentation studies, figureless and panaromic Works that depict the sacred places in Mecca and Medina have also been studied. Among these example sare Sıfatu'lHarameyn as being a record of the construction activities of Kanuni Sultan Süleyman and Futuhuarl-Harameyn created in the 15th century. The aim of this thesis is to examine the ornamental features of these two important Works which describe sand depicts the holy places and pilgrim age to Mecca and Medina in the 15th and 16th centuries. The similarities and differences of the illumination and miniatures of the Works will be revealed and comparison sand evaluations will be made about the subject.
