Abstract (EN)

This study aims to examine the role and impact of social work in fighting cybercrime, to highlight its importance, and to target its effective use. In addition, the study aims to reveal how social work can contribute to the areas of increasing the security of the society, providing assistance to the victims, rehabilitating the cybercrime perpetrators, and preventing cybercrime. In the study, statistical data obtained from sources such as the Ministry of Interior, FBI and ITU were used. Topics such as the definition, types, effects, prevention and rehabilitation of cybercrime were discussed. The tasks, responsibilities and practices of social work related to cybercrime were also examined. The results of the study show that legal and technical measures alone are not sufficient in fighting cybercrime, and that a human-centered and holistic approach such as social work is also needed. Social work should undertake tasks such as understanding the causes, effects and consequences of cybercrime, creating awareness and consciousness against cybercrime, providing psychosocial support to cybercrime victims, giving education and counseling to cybercrime perpetrators, and developing policies and programs for the prevention of cybercrime. This study, in addition to aiming to contribute to the scientific accumulation in the field of social work related to cybercrime, also addresses in detail the strengths and weaknesses of the social work discipline in this field, the methodological and ethical problems, the research gaps and the suggestions for future studies. It also emphasizes the importance of a multidisciplinary perspective in fighting cybercrime and encourages collaboration and coordination among social workers, researchers, policy makers and other relevant stakeholders.
