Investigation of time-dependent compressive strength development in roller compacted concrete road pavements with the help of non-destructive ultrasonic method

Within the scope of this thesis, concrete compressive strength data were taken directly from the site of roller compacted concrete road construction in Gümüshane province. Non-destructive ultrasonic wave velocity test was preferred in obtaining compressive strength data. For the compressive strength measurements, 4 different areas were determined in the work site. Measurements were carried out on 5 different dates for each area. The measurements were analysed in two separate sections: near the longitudinal joint and in the middle of the pavement. Time-dependent compressive strength graphs of the obtained data were drawn. In the light of the graphs drawn, the traffic opening times were calculated. Pavement areas of sufficient quality offered earlier opening times to traffic. In addition, significant differences were observed between the compressive strength data taken from near the joint and from the centre of the pavement in these sections. However, the compressive strength data near the joint and in the centre of the pavement were similar in the pavement areas where sufficient quality was not achieved.
