Personality characteristics of accountant characters in motion picture films - Investigation of Holywood films

It is known that the accounting profession is as old as the history of humankind and the accountants have great responsibilities under various names in every period of history. Expectations from this occupational group that provides services to the stakeholders of the enterprises are quite high due to the importance of their work. However, there is also a common acceptance that regular, practical, time-consuming, persuasive, harmonious and progressive individuals will be successful in the profession of accountancy. Summary The aim of this study is to determine the characteristics of the accountant characters in cinema films and their personality characteristics in the eyes of screenwriters. In this context, ten films of Hollywood cinema, in which one of the leading actors acted as an accountant character, were examined with the help of visual analysis. The reason why cinema films are used as materials in the study is that cinema is a tool with important interactions with society. The personalities of ten accountants in these films; personality patterns (five factor personality and personality type A and type B personality), dark side of personality (narcissism, Machiavellianism and psychopathy) and personality disorders are discussed. As a result of the examinations, it was determined that the accountant characters in the films were mostly close to the Type B personality model (9 film characters): quiet, calm, responsible and high tendency. In this case, the characters in the films depicting the social life, It is an important indicator of how they are perceived by society by means of screenwriters both in terms of personality and in terms of the profession they perform.
