Investigation of unit fishing power and economic structure of trawlers in Sinop province

This thesis study was carried out in 2018-2019 fishing season in order to reveal the socio-economic status of the trawling boats in Sinop province and districts. In this research, contribution of trawlers registered to Sinop province to fishing activity, determination of unit fishing forces, economic analysis and income and expense table of Sinop trawl fishing were analyzed and current socio-economic situation was analyzed. As a result of the research, successful or weak points of Sinop trawl fishery were tried to be determined. 21 trawl boats registered to Sinop province were identified and 8 of them engaged in active bottom trawl fishing were conducted through face to face interviews and questionnaires. The three boats that refused to share data were removed and the remaining 5 boats were evaluated as primary data. Gross yields of trawlers examined in the scope of the study are as follows; 563.990,00 TL, 471.075,00 TL, 488.405,00 TL, 644.155,00 TL and 300.675,00 TL, the total annual operating costs are respectively; TL 497,606,00, TL 428,647,00, TL 438,647,00, TL 510,801,00 and TL 268,852,00, respectively, with net profits of the following; 66,384,00 TL, 42,995,00 TL, 49,758,00 TL, 133,354,00 TL and 31,823,00 TL respectively. As a result of the study, it was found that the sampled boats were profitable in the 2018-2019 fishing season.
