Abstract (EN)
Today, with the increase in population and progressive industrialization, the need for energy has increased and efforts to gain new and clean energy resources have gained momentum. For this reason, the demand for renewable energy sources, which are both environmentally friendly and economical, has increased. In order to reduce the environmental pollution and greenhouse effect caused by fossil fuels, renewable energy resources have gained great importance for humanity and have taken their place in our lives as an indispensable energy source. In this study, which includes brief information about energy and energy resources, wind energy, one of the renewable (secondary) energy resources, was discussed in detail and the wind energy potential of Sinop city was investigated. In addition, a research was carried out for a possible wind power plant (WPP) installation. Consequently, the measured ambient wind speed Sinop Turkey are found to be very close to the wind speed measured from the present running of the plant. Moreover, considering the location of the station where wind speed measurements are made, it is thought that these values will approach or exceed the values of other power plants. This situation has revealed Sinop's wind energy potential.
