Abstract (EN)

In this thesis, the effects of isolators used in a seismically isolated hospital building on the structure were investigated. For this purpose, the building was modeled in SAP2000 in two different ways. In the first model, the isolator was placed bottom the column level and in the second model, the isolator was placed at the top level of the column. High damped rubber support (HDRB) system was used as seismic isolation system. In addition, buildings with seismic isolation were compared with the seismic isolation status. This thesis, which is aimed to investigate the cross-sectional effects of the structure and the changes in the required reinforcement areas as a result of different modeling, consists of 4 main sections. The appearance of improved seismic isolators and systems related to the research of the literature for safer and the use of after the earthquake of structures with technology developed in the first part, seismic isolators concept, advantages and disadvantages of the insulator, seismic isolation applications and types of seismic isolators in Turkey has been introduced. In the same section, the design principles of seismic isolation according to UBC 97 are examined and the necessary regulations for the sizing of seismic isolators are selected. In the second part, the general characteristics of the building to be insulated, material classes and loads are given. According to the selected parameters, necessary calculations were made to find the dimensions and mechanical properties of the isolators. In the third section, the results obtained by modeling the insulators having mechanical properties in the structure are given.
