Distance education for system approach İnönü University distance education center model proposal

Information and communication technologies (ICT) usage levels of countries are accepted as among the most important indicator parameters of development today. Especially in the developing countries, number of academicians and the infrastructure of physical university campuses are not proper enough for an effective education. Fort his reason, the need for staff who equipped with some aspects of ICT is getting increased even in those countries and others as well.In the scope of this thesis, distance education and the most popular form of it, web-based education, are defined and their historical developments are examined. The advantages and disadvantages of distance education against traditional face-to-face education are discussed and the applications in the world and in Turkey are handled. The instutional forms of distance education and base distance education models are examined. Commonly used web based distance education is focused among these models. What kind of things a web based distange education should be consisted is found out.Evaluating the stil possibilities of İnönü University, lacks and necessities are pointed in order to provide web based distance education. By developing a model offer called İnönü University Distance Education Center, the instutional form, technical Infrastruction, curriculum and regulations, course design, effective learning design and evaluation system design of this center are handled detailed.
