Abstract (EN)
In this study, it was aimed to reveal the socio-cultural demographic and economic structure of Yıldız village by using Tax Register with number of 14945 which was registered in 1844-1845. For this reason, the scope of this research was not limited to Yıldız village's Tax Register, but it was tried to be informed about the short history of Yıldızeli district, its geographical position, climate and plant cover. Additionally, the Ottoman Empire's pre-Tanzimat and Tanzimat period taxation system and process of tax registers' keeping was tried to be explained. It has been noted that the sources used were important and well-known names that are the pioneers of this field, and the study was strived to be supported with similar dissertations. The significant results that was achieved in this study are as follows: Yıldız village is a village where agriculture and animal husbandry activities are done intensively. There are no any non-muslims settled in the village. Every household has a significant number of animals, land and incomes. Yıldız village's tax register constitutes one of the best examples which have reflected the residence structure of the Ottoman Empire. In brief, the socio-economic structure of Yıldız village is a typical 19th century Ottoman settlement area whose entire population is Muslim and "peasant economy" prevails according to the tax register with number of 14945 and dated in 1844-1845. Its partly difference from other villages is that both livestock and agricultural acitivities are being done together intensively in Yıldız village
