Traditional dwelling structures are reflection of the culture of the societies and they are living spaces which were shaped by the need of their users in accordance with the environmental factors. Traditional dwelling structures were clustered in a logical order and it has become a consistent pattern of the traditional urban fabric. The public and private spaces in urban pattern has a sequence in a hierarchical order. In this context Siverek city has been selected as study area because of it contains unique traditional settlements which reflect the unique values of the traditional life style of the Mesopotamian region which contain most important urban settlements throughout the history. Understanding of the dynamics which have shaped the traditional settlement of the Siverek is mean that to define the public spaces and private spaces of it and to understand spatial conditions and space sequence around them. The scope of the study is that to investigate the factors which effect the shape of the private space in accordance with the its relation with the public space and city and this issue investigated in the light of the culture, user behaviour and their relation with urban architectural space with the sort of the hierarchy of the space typologies (public-private space concepts). In this context, the factors that affect the change and development of the traditional urban fabric of the Siverek has been investigated in relation with the history, geographic conditions and cultural dynamics of it and the relationships between public and private spaces has been given in the text. Moreover, additional spaces which has been born in the relationship between public and private space has been documented in the study. Several analyses have been done on the maps and satellite images of the area which were taken from the General Map directoryof the Turkey and the change in the space has been pointed on the output maps. The general settlement chrachteristics of the dwelling structures which has been defined as private space has been investigated and additionally, some architectural components of the them such as hole, breaking, room, iwan, kitchen, roof, toilets, yard and stable has been documented. Moreover, the street which has been defined as public space component has been investigated and its relation with the private space has been investigated and in this context some of the unique component of the city such as dead end streets, checkreins, alcove, windows and doors has been investigated and documented. The results of the study showed the importance of the protection and sustaining of the traditional values which has been detected in the end of the defining the hierarchy of the space in the term of the different space typologies by the context of the traditional urban fabric investigations.
