Abstract (EN)

In democratic states, individuals influence the mechanisms that operate in the system, by participating in political processes and they are influenced by them. Political participation, which is the first condition of modernization in democratic states, is effective in the decision-making process. Thus, the political participation occurs by completing the socialization process of the individuals via interaction and by the emergence of social rules, and the mechanism of political participation reflects the impacts of the individuals. Political participation is a process that differs with the attitude of the individual in the society and the behavior that determines this attitude. The diversity of political participation varies from society to society. In this sense, the importance of political systems emerges. While social cohesion is achieved through political participation, the process of completion in social identity starts. In this context, whether women's political participation is identified with the society depends on the ratio of political participation. In this study, the political participation rate of women is especially examined in Gaziantep province of Turkey. The effects of the factors such as age, education, occupation and financial situation on political participation are analyzed. It is aimed to reach concrete findings according to the results of the survey, which is explained within the framework of institutionalization and the effect of political participation on gender.
