Biographic article in terms of political life: "Plutarch's Lives" review

In the study, "Plutarch's Lives" (Parallel Lives) is examined in the context of biography in terms of political life. This series, which is estimated to have been written between 105-115 AD, includes 23 double and 4 single biographies. It was seen that the Greek-origin characters were mainly chosen from the Classical-Early Hellenistic periods, and the Roman characters were generally chosen from the Late Republic Period. Throughout history, prominent military commanders, leaders and philosophers have been compared with their common and rare characteristics. In this way, the actions and motives of people have created a content that deals with the ethical and philosophical aspects of the values they represent. It is thought to be a valuable resource for political science, as well as being a work that has completely influenced classical biography. While this study deals with the political, social and cultural conditions of the period in which Plutarch lived, it also contains detailed information on the important periods of his life and his works. With the thought that this study will help to better understand Plutarch's authorship, it is emphasized how biography is handled in Plutarch. The aim of the study is to reveal the basic concepts, approaches, ideologies and political institutions in political science by taking Plutarch's Lives as a main reference and to emphasize the resource-creating role of biography in political science.
