The issue of caliphate and imamate of Ibn Haldun in terms of politics and belief

Our study consists of three chapters including introduction, first chapter and second chapter. In the introduction part, we wrote about the religious, scientific and particularly political aspects of Ibn Haldun's life, as well as introducing his most eminent works. Due to the strong connection of Ibn Haldun's life and his ideas, we preferred to keep this part detailed and long. The aim of this study is to reconsider the issue of Islamic presidency, pertaining to Muslims in many ways, in the eye of such an important philosopher as Ibn Haldun. For this reason, we started our study explaining the terms 'caliphate' and 'imamate' which compare to the concept of presidency in the Islamic world in most aspects. Subsequently, we referred to the fields to which these terms relate and how they are perceived by the Muslims. Before we concluded the first chapter, we mentioned the opinions of the leading Islamic scholars commenting on this issue. The aspects that we mentioned in the first chapter are valuable in terms of understanding Ibn Haldun's ideas about government, and defining his place in the Islamic world. In the second chapter of our research, we discussed the ideas of Ibn Haldun, who combines his religious and scientific (especially in sociology and history etc.) knowledge and experiences he obtained after working for the government, on caliphate. In this chapter, we tried to determine differing and matching opinions of Ibn Haldun and other Islamic scholars. In addition, we mentioned a great deal of original ideas belonging to Ibn Haldun in this chapter.
