Abstract (EN)
The purpose of this study is to analyse primary school teacher candidates disaster awareness perception and earthquake knowledge level. The study analyzed the relationships between disaster awareness and earthquake knowledge with variables such as gender, university, class level, disaster experience, disaster education and living place. This study uses relational survey model among quantitative research methods. The study group of this study consists of 552 teacher candidate studying in Kırşehir Ahi Evran University and Amasya University Education Faculty, Primary Education Department, Class Education Branch in the 2018-2019 academic year. Personal Data Form, Disaster Awareness Perception Scale and Earthquake Knowledge Success Test are used as the data collection tool in the research. Obtained data are analysed with a package data program. The results of this study determine that primary school teacher candidate have high-level disaster education, pre-disaster, incorrect disaster and disaster awareness perception and medium-level post-disaster awareness perception. It is found that there is no significant difference between disaster awareness perception and gender, class level, disaster experience and living place; however, there is a significant difference between pre-service primary school teachers' university and disaster education variables. Additionally, it is determined that primary school teacher candidate have medium-level earthquake knowledge, pre-earthquake, earthquake and general earthquake knowledge level and low-level post-earthquake knowledge. It is found that there is no significant difference between earthquake knowledge and disaster experience, disaster education and living place; however, there is a significant difference between gender, university and class-level variables. Additionally, it is found that primary school teacher candidate disaster awareness and earthquake knowledge had a positive and statistically significant relationship.
