Investi̇gati̇ng creati̇ve and reflecti̇ve thi̇nki̇ng trends of form teacher candi̇dates

This research was carried out to examine the creative and reflective thinking disposition levels of form teacher candidates. For this purpose; trend levels were investigated according to gender, class level, university, high school type graduated, level of income, place of residence, reading habit and parental education level. This research was generated as a descriptive study in the correlational survey model, which is one of the quantitative research methods. The study group consists of form teacher candidates studying at the third and fourth grade at Kırşehir Ahi Evran University and Trabzon University in the 2018-2019 academic year. 270 form teacher candidates participated in the study. Data were collected as Self Information Form, Reflective Thinking Tendency and Marmara Creative Thinking Tendency scales. Standard deviation, arithmetic mean, and Kolmogorov-Smirnov and Shapiro-Wilk tests results were taken into consideration in the analysis of the data. Mann Whitney U-test, T-test, Kruskal Wallis test, and One Way Anova test were used. In addition, Pearson correlation was used to determine the relationship between creative and reflective thinking. As a result of the data obtained, it was concluded that the form teachers candidates' creative and reflective thinking tendency levels were high. It was determined that creative thinking differs according to class level whereas; reflective thinking differences significantly according to gender and reading habits. It was determined that variables such as university, high school type graduated, level of income, place of residence and education level of parents have not created significant difference for the two thinking types. Besides, a moderate positive correlation was found between form teachers candidates' creative and reflective thinking.
