Improving primary education teacher's qualifications regarding values education through lesson study model

In this research, it is aimed to determine the educational needs of classroom teachers within the scope of Social Studies course by revealing their current situation regarding value education approaches and to meet these needs; it is aimed to present action plans within the scope of the Lesson Study Model (LSM) to teachers, to prepare, implement and evaluate lesson plans in collaboration with teachers, and in this way to contribute to the development of teachers' profesyonel qualifications. Action research design, one of the qualitative research methods, was used in the research. In collecting data, interviews, observations, researcher and participant diaries, and validity data were used. Data analysis was carried out using content and descriptive analysis approaches within the scope of systematic analytical analysis process steps. As a result of the research, it has been observed that in the process of value education in the Social Studies course, there is incompatibility between teachers' opinions and classroom practices, factors that make the process dysfunctional are encountered, and teachers have requests and expectations. Based on these problems and needs, educational presentations were prepared and course research applications were carried out. As a result of the application, teachers; it has been understood that there are improvements in terms of seeing the importance of using different approaches other than suggestion, improving by seeing the problems that occur, self-efficacy regarding value education methods and approaches, feeling job satisfaction with different discoveries, awareness and competence regarding lesson planning, critical perspective, communication and cooperation.
