Abstract (EN)

Purpose: Purpose: In this study, it was aimed to examine the digital literacy status of classroom teachers. Method: In this study, a mixed research design was preferred and in quantitative section of the study a questionnaire form consists of personal information form and "Digital Literacy Scale" was applied to 306 primary school teachers working in public schools in Erciş / VAN. In addition, 10 teachers were interviewed. Results: According to the analyzes made, it was determined that the digital literacy levels of the teachers were at a "Good" level. It has been observed that younger teachers have higher digital literacy levels compared to older teachers, male teachers than female teachers, and teachers with low professional seniority compared to more senior teachers. It was observed that the digital literacy levels of the teachers working in the district center were higher than the teachers working in the village / hamlet. In addition, it has been observed that teachers with higher education levels have higher digital literacy levels. In the qualitative analysis part, some results were obtained because of the analysis of the data obtained from the 10 teachers who volunteered among the 306 teachers. Almost all of the teachers use digital literacy as "Accessing Information in Digital Environments (Tablet, Computer, Phone, Mobile Device, etc.), Reading, Writing, Understanding, interpreting this Information, etc." while only one teacher defines it as "Integration of Education and Technology". Most of the teachers consider themselves to be fully digital literate and the reason for this is their "Excessive Use of Digital Media in Both Private and Professional Life". Conclusion and Suggestions: According to the results, the digital literacy level of teachers was found to be at a good level. In order for this level to be even better, it is considered important to implement a curriculum that will provide prospective teachers with digital literacy skills. Keywords: Literacy, Digital Literacy, Classroom Teachers.
