The relati̇onshi̇p between pri̇mary school teachers profici̇ency beli̇efs and atti̇tudes towards teachi̇ng

The aim of this study is to investigate the relationship between the attitudes of the primary school teachers towards the teaching profession and their proficiency beliefs. In this study, relational survey model was used. The universe of the study consisted of classroom teachers working in Bayburt Province in the 2016 - 2017 academic year. The sample of the study consisted of 205 primary school teachers. Validity and reliability study was conducted for participating teachers in the study. Teacher proficiency beliefs and attitude scales towards teaching profession were used.Personal Information Form madeprepared from the items that will contribute to our study together with these scales was also used. Primary school teachers working in the province of Bayburt were visited in their schools and information was given about the purpose of the study and participants were provided to fill the scales according to the volunteer basis. The data obtained from the research are presented with tables showing the frequencies and percentages and the descriptive statistics. Data were analyzed using SPSS (Statistical Package for Social Sciences) 21.0 software. In order to determine the difference between the attitudes of teachers in the teaching profession and their beliefs of proficiency, t-test and ANOVA from parametric tests, Mann Whitney U Test and Kruskal Wallis H tests from non-parametric tests were used.In addition, in the evaluation of the relationship between variables, the normal distribution was evaluated and Correlation analysis was used. P <0.05 significance level was considered in statistical analysis and interpretation of the data. According to the findings obtained in the study, it was determined that there was a moderate and positive relationship between the classroom teachers' attitudes towards teaching profession and their proficiency beliefs.
