Abstract (EN)
Although Islamophobia is mainly based on a long-established history, the intensive use of the term took place after the Cold War. The fact that the concept is rooted in its history is mainly due to its relationship with another concept, namely orientalism. With the end of the Cold War, the West's designation of Islam and Muslims as a new enemy caused orientalism to turn into a new orientalism, that is, Islamophobia. In order to spread Islamophobia and implement their own global policies through it, Western states have used three issues in particular a lot, s. terrorism, migration and a common value. In this thesis, the role of the Western media in the creation and dissemination of Islamophobia has been analyzed based on the three issues in question. By examining the elements such as cartoons, films and articles in media tools such as television, radio, cinema, magazines and newspapers, an attempt has been made to reveal the Islamophobia-media connection. In terms of preparing the ground for the subject, first of all, the concept of orientalism has also been discussed in detail.
