Abstract (EN)

Today, energy efficiency and sustainability constitute the basic elements of urban infrastructure design. In this context, street lighting systems play an important role in optimizing energy consumption. While traditional street lighting systems are generally considered static structures that operate at fixed time intervals and do not take into account environmental conditions, smart street lighting systems represent a significant transformation in this field. Considering the limitations of traditional street lighting systems, smart systems have many advantages such as saving energy, reducing environmental impacts and improving city management. In this thesis study, the differences of smart street lighting systems, which respond quickly, operate reliably and provide energy saving, compared to conventional lighting methods, have been demonstrated with the wide availability of flexible lighting technology such as light-emitting diode lamps and wireless communication capability. Additionally, it evaluates the use of different technologies and sensors. The proposed smart street lighting system prototype was designed and implemented in a real urban environment.
