Abstract (EN)
Historical texts facilitate cultural transfer by contributing to students' learning of national and universal values. By bringing past life experiences to the present, it can offer students the opportunity to compare the values of the past with the values of today. Students can make value inferences from the life experiences of people in the past through historical texts. At this point, reflecting the historical texts in the textbooks is extremely important in terms of introducing our core values to the students. Based on this view, the main purpose of the research is to examine the historical texts (travel book, epic and inscription) in terms of values in the "Culture and Heritage" learning area of social studies textbooks. In the research, which was designed with a case study, which is one of the qualitative research approaches, social studies textbooks, travel books, epics and inscription type historical texts were examined. The expressions found in the historical texts determined within the scope of the document review were analyzed through descriptive analysis in the context of the values of the social studies course curriculum. As a result of the research: Travel book type historical texts were found in 5th and 7th grade, epic and inscription type historical texts were found in 5th and 6th grade social studies textbooks. It has been observed that the values in the expressions in the identified historical texts and the values of the social studies course curriculum largely overlap. So much so that, out of the eighteen values of the social studies curriculum, excluding the "saving" value, the remaining seventeen values (emphasis on family unity, respect, justice, equality, independence, peace, scientificness, hard work, solidarity, sensitivity (cultural heritage), honesty. , aesthetics, freedom, respect, love, patriotism, benevolence and responsibility) are mentioned in historical texts. Travel books were used in the textbooks to introduce Turkish cultural elements. In addition to the expressions in which the helpful, generous, respectful and honesty characteristics of the Turks come to the fore, Ottoman visual arts, handicrafts, architectural structures, Turkish bath culture, coffee culture, Ramazan Feast celebrations, wedding ceremonies and eating and drinking culture were introduced to the students through historical texts. In epic type historical texts that include sections from four different Turkish epics (Oğuz Kağan, Ergenekon, Türeyiş and Göç); There are expressions related to values of solidarity, respect, justice, equality, giving importance to family unity, love, benevolence, being scientific, independence and freedom. The values of patriotism, independence and industriousness came to the fore in the sections from the Orhun Inscriptions (Kül Tigin and Bilge Kağan). According to these results; Travel book, epic and inscription type historical texts included in the "Culture and Heritage" learning area of the social studies course curriculum were reflected in the textbooks. Selected sections from historical texts to textbooks meet the values of the social studies course curriculum.
