The effect Orkhun Inscriptions on value gain in social studies

The purpose of this study is to determine which of the values in Social Studies Teaching Program take place in Orkhon Inscriptions, and the effect that the students of values education program gain value through Orkhon Inscriptions. In accordance with this purpose, Orkhon Inscriptions that have belonged to Göktürk State have been examined to discover the similarities between the values that have been adopted at the time of Göktürk State and the values that are adopted at the present time through qualitative data collection techniques, to measure the effect of value expressions on Orkhon Inscriptions on students' value gain, karma technique in which quantitative data collection techniques are used together has been used. In the qualitative dimension of the study, the document analysis technique was used, and in the quantitative dimension, a model with a pretest / posttest unsynchronized control group was used. In the qualitative dimension of this study that was prepared by adopting karma technique approach, Ergin (2016). Orkhon Inscriptions was used as document. As for the quantitative dimension of this study, 20 6th grade students in Taşlıçay district of Ağrı form the study group of the study. The "Values Education Scale" data collection tool developed by Keskin (2008). was used to determine the levels of students' benevolence, solidarity, sensitivity to historical heritage, hospitality, tolerance, fairness, diligence, sensitivity to the natural environment, responsibility and patriotism. According to the findings obtained in the qualitative dimension of the study, it was concluded that the values that take place among today's communal values which are solidarity, love, respect, independence (freedom), peace, honesty, sensitivity, scientificity, aesthetics, fairness, benevolence, caring for family unity, diligence, responsibility, equality, saving and patriotism existed in the Göktuük State as well. According to the findings obtained in the quantitative dimension of the study; Although the mean scores of the experimental group were higher than the average of the control group, it was determined that there was no significant difference between them. It was determined that the post-test mean scores applied to the experimental group were higher than the pre-test mean scores and there was a significant difference between them. According to the average of gain point, it was determined that the mean scores of the experimental group were higher in the control group mean scores but there was no significant difference between them.
