Examination of social studies teacher candidates active citizenship self efficacy in terms of various variables (Ege Region example)

In this research, the level of active citizenship self-efficacy of Social Studies teacher candidates was determined, It is aimed to examine the gender, according to the level of class in which it is studying, the university where it is studying, the settlement area before starting the undergraduate education, the membership status of non-governmental organizations, the political agenda status and the family average income level variables. The research was carried out with the instant scanning model, which is a kind of quantitative research method. The universe of the research is prospective teachers who study in the Social Studies teaching program at public universities in the Aegean region in the 2019-2020 academic year. 749 1st and 4th Grade Social Studies teacher candidates studying at 9 state universities in the Aegean region participated in the study. Active Citizenship Self-Efficacy Scale and Personal Information Form were used as data collection tools in the research. In the research, while the active citizenship self-efficacy of Social Studies teacher candidates was determined at a high level, it was concluded that there was a significant difference according to the variables of gender, membership status of non-governmental organizations, status of following the political agenda.
