Social studies teachers, conditions for using literature in their classes

This study was made to describe the problems if they have and the situations they use the literary works of the Social Studies teacher. In the study, the basic qualitative pattern was used. The centre of the research includes 26 Social Studies Teachers working in the Palandöken district of Erzurum in 2015-2016 Education period. In the study, as means of collecting data, the semi-configure interview technique was used. While creating the interview questions, the views of the three educators expert in their field were taken. In the direction of the masters' views, by editing the questions if needed, the data work of the pilotstudie was made together with three Social Studies teachers. The questions were the questions about whether the Social Studies teachers use the literary works in their lessons, they took any education for this, and the aim of the usage of the literary works, and what kind of criteria was used, what kind of literary works were used, from where they were taken, how the teachers use these literary works and what the benefits of these literary works are. The data taken from the study was analyzed with the content analysis. As a result of the findings, the number of the teachers using the literary works was understood to be predominate and these teachers took the point of the student level and the content of the these works.
