Abstract (EN)
The aim of this study is to find out how social studies teachers identify misconceptions in social studies course and how they try to eliminate misconceptions. Phenomenological approach, one of the qualitative research methods, was utilized in the study. In the study, semi-structured interview form developed by the researcher was used. Descriptive analysis method was used for data analysis. This research; in the 2018-2019 academic year, it was conducted with 26 Social Studies teachers in 10 secondary schools in Muratpaşa district in Antalya. 11 open-ended questions were assked to Social Studies teachers. According to findings of the analysis the misconceptions of social studies teachers are perceived as misleading and misunderstanding the meaning of the concepts as confusion of similar concepts whith the fact that the preliminary information about the concepts is wrong and the misunderstanding of the concepts.
