Investigation of the effect of trip and observation method applied in historical spaces for teaching history issues in social sciences on obtaining learning outcomes

In this thesis,it was examined that the effect of trip and observation method ,used in course trips which is planned to historic places for primary education Social Science Course, in terms of students' acqusition of learning outcomes. In this context, in 2018 2019 Education Year,the data of the study were collected from a group of 100 students of 6th grade learners in a state middle school of Şahinbey district,Gaziantep Province consisted of 50 students in the experimental group and 50 students in the control group.Taking expert opinions, achievement test, improved by researcher within the scope of 6th grade social science course efficient citizenship unit,was used as a testing tool. In this research, after achievement test was applied to all group members as a pre-test, course outcomes were processed in accordance with the curriculum and final test was applied by taking experimental group to the designated places for course trip and by using direct instruction technique in a classroom environment for control group. Examining the data of the research in SPSS program, t Test for dependent groups and t Test for independent groups, Mann Whitney U Test which is non parametric equivalent of t Test for independent groups not showing normal variance and Kolmogorov Smimov Normallik Test were applied.At the end of the study, it was seen that direct instruction and trip-observation technique were effective in achieving the learning outcomes of the students. Furtermore,it was concluded that trip and observation technique is more successful than direct instruction technique in terms of students' achieving the learning outcomes.
