Abstract (EN)

To be researching Alevism scientifically, it takes great importance to determine its characteristics and known the historical process and the changes they had experienced. In our thesis, we aimed to explain the different interpretations of Alevism and explain the social conditions that cause this situation. By examining this thesis, researches, and articles in various fields, we referred to the religious and cultural dimensions of the subject. We focused on how the differentiation that occurred in the process of social change was perceived. We have seen that the factors affecting the institutional structure of Alevism have begun to dissolve, especially as a result of urbanization, and it has been the subject of dozens of researches and discussions with the effect of many factors such as the urban environment, the spread of formal education, and the increase in the population. We have determined that the results of the researches carried out in the country and abroad have been followed more widely through the media and social media than in the past. To sum up, some of the studies carried out particularly outside of the academic fields are not enough and inclusive terms of methods and resources. We have determined that since the studies conducted in the academic area it is generally carried out by people from different disciplines, they are affected by the structure of the fields at the theoretical and methodological level, and they are not suitable for presenting a general impression because they are mostly regional and periodical studies. In some studies, in which Alevism has reflected far from the basic elements in the literature, we have determined that the destruction caused by acting with ideological concerns, combined with the aspects of the historical process that have not been clarified yet, make it difficult to understand scientific knowledge. Multidisciplinary research is needed to be clarified to explain the institutional and historical characteristics of Alevism. Today, we can say that the fields of the study should be supported to reveal the differentiating aspects. Keywords: Alevism, social change, urbanization, institutional structure
