The effects of the social exclusion on unmarried women

As person is social entity, he or she wants to social relations. However, the deprivations of individuals prevent they from having social relations and integrating with society. In this case, individuals face the social exclusion. The concept of social exclusion emerged in France in the 1970s and quickly influenced other European countries. Social exclusion is a dynamic process that expresses the individual's partial or complete deprivation from social, economic, political and cultural systems that enable integration with society. Social exclusion has many negative effects for individuals. Women are also exposed to inequality and discrimination in social life. The differences in the marital status of women also determine the dimensions of social exclusion. While marriage often provides a social status for women, unmarried women may face various barriers to access to economic and social rights. This study is include unmarried women that it is aim understanding how they experience social exclusion in their lives. For this purpose, after discussing the social exclusion and marriage concepts that form the basis of study, in-depth interviews were made with thirty-two women who wife died, divorced from her husband, never married and lived together without formal marriage in Mugla. Social exclusion has become one of the major social problems in the field of social policy. Therefore, methods and policies to combat social exclusion must be established.
