Social exclusion in the context of social health: An example of Yalova province

In this study, which focuses on the social health of Yalova, how the social exclusion perception levels and well-being of individuals differ according to demographic variables are examined. In data collection, in addition to the demographic information of the respondents, Turkish version of "Social Exclusion Scale" developed by Jehoel Gijsbers and Vrooman (2007 is used. Turkish translation, and validity-reliability analyses of the scale was done by Bayram et al., (2010). In order to determine the well-being of individuals in Yalova, Turkish version of "Well-being Scale" developed by Diener et al., (2009) is used. Turkish translation, and validity-reliability analyses of the scale was done by Fidan and Usta, (2013). The research was performed with a total of 855 participants over 18 years of age in Yalova. The data collected in the field were analyzed with SPSS-18 package program. The results were interpreted with a social service perspective, and recommendations were offered. As a result of this research, which focuses on general social health and the relationship between social exclusion and well-being, it was found that the social exclusion levels of the participants are low both in general dimensions, and in sub-dimensions. Likewise, it was found that the participants' well-being was high. When the results were evaluated in terms of the relationship between social exclusion and well-being, it was observed that there was a significant negative correlation between social exclusion level and the well-being.
