Ethical responsibilities of social worker candidates: A quantitative approach

Ethics is a set of rules and principles that occupy a large place in people‟s lives, affect their behavior and actions, try to ensure the order of society, and aim to make the functioning healthier. Social work is a profession that is formed for the welfare of people and society, fights for human rights, justice and human dignity, aims to provide quality service to individuals, and is in favor of development and progress. The concept of Ethics and Social Work is in common ground in many points such as order, equality and a better quality of life. But generally ethics comprises social service. Because ethics appeals to almost every branch of life and social work in one of these branches. Every part of social work is related to ethics and it is impossible to think without ethics. It is blended with ethics, from the services provided, the practices implemented, the responsibilities to the applicants, their relations with the institutions and their colleagues. Ethical principles are an indispensable part and cornerstone of social work. In the qualitative study conducted in the study, what the concept of ethics expresses through the eyes of social service students, and their knowledge and thoughts about the ethical responsibilities of the clients were analyzed. As a result of the research, it is observed that the meaning of ethics differ for different participants, and everyone has their own values and the answers are given according to these values. Although there are common answers about the ethical responsibilities towards the applicants, there are some points that they separate. It is understood that applicants care about ethics both personally and professionally, and also their ethical sensitivity is high.
