Abstract (EN)

Every innovation in people's lives have also led to big changes in broader society. The notion of privacy, in this sense, has experienced changes and transformations. Although the term has partially changed within the time, it has had a great transformation thanks to the technological developments. Technology and social networks, which impose their own rules, have triggered existing through sharing as well as the desire for being more visible and getting more likes. The habits, behaviors and reactions of societies have also changed in parallel with this technological process. Starting with agricultural society and industrial society; technological developments and the communication technologies' transformations, speed of which cannot be reached, have moved all individuals into a position at which they live within the network, integrate with smart phones and live in unity within the world between reality and virtuality. The new media technologies that set in their own ways and set up their own rules have fictionalized societies all over again and made them experience transformations. People who think they have dominance in many areas within social networks through the smart phones in their hands have actually become an object of the order established. Social networks turning into tools which directly appeal to the egos of people and which trigger the feeling of sharing has come to a state at which the understanding of privacy has extremely been changed. People's voluntarily opening of their private worlds has led to a different window with regard to the perception of privacy, in particular within the youth. The youth are the group which adapts all these process in the fastest way and which is affected the most. This study examines the perception of privacy of the youth that use social media. Findings are obtained via an online survey which is comprised of 15 questions and carried out among different groups. Keywords: Privacy, Tecnology, Social Media, New Media, Youth
