Abstract (EN)

Since the transition to internet technology based on Web 2.0, communication and interaction between individuals has become a common part of everyday life through social media platforms, which have become increasingly popular and now have user numbers in the billions. These platforms not only allow users to communicate with each other, but also provide opportunities to acquire new hobbies, increase social and professional knowledge and skills, develop economic and commercial relationships domestically and internationally, establish new business areas, and even provide an alternative source of news and analysis on current and social events, influencing individual and societal thoughts. Along with all these opportunities provided by social media, the ease with which users can communicate with each other through platforms such as YouTube, Twitter, and Facebook, has led to the easy, simple, and effective violation of the right to honor and dignity, which is one of the personality rights. Since the right to honor and dignity is a vital right that determines a person's place and reputation in society, the protection of this right in social media platforms is particularly important. Our study aims to concretize the attacks on this right through social media by providing detailed information on the scope, types of violations, and private law protection mechanisms of the right to honor and dignity within the framework of personality rights, and by examining the social media use in daily life together with the teachings and judicial decisions.
